It's Holiday Time, Already?

Wow, December is here already and the holidays are upon us again.  It is Creativity Project time.  The theme this month is "Holiday."  Well this is how my family and I celebrate.  First and foremost is to remember and acknowledge the reason for the Christmas season:  The birth of Jesus Christ.
                                                                     Luke 2:11 -
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

We also celebrate the fun and magic of Santa Clause.  There is great joy in watching the excitement and anticipation of the big guy coming to visit.  Sitting and wondering what little gifts might be under the tree this year.  Possibly a Barbie, an Easy Bake oven or a new bike.

Some of us enjoy a little rest by the fire.  A little nap or even roasting marshmallows make for a lovely holiday memory.
The Holidays are a great time in our family to capture a family photo of us all together.  Each year the image changes and the children mature and I cry when I look at the ones from years past.  I can't help it, I'm a softie in this area.
                                                               We enjoy playing games.
The little ones love waking up to find out where their little elf is sitting that day.  They enjoy giving him their Christmas lists and seeing if Maximus is up to any shenanigans.
I of course love to keep the home fires burning.
A Christmas door wreath is a must.  This one is extra special.  My good friend made it for me a few years ago at Christmas.  I laid in the bed and rested while she brought this beauty to life.
We enjoy having friends over for a little puzzle time.
We all love Hot Chocolate, especially with a bunch of yummy marshmallows.

Finally, I enjoy walking around this time of year, capturing the changes in nature and I occasionally get one of my kiddos to join me.  Holidays are a time to gather with family and friends and reflect on the love of Jesus, each other and the memories of the year, I hope this Christmas is filled with love, peace, happiness and good health to all of you. Keep warm!!

Rainbows and Rainboots

I am so proud to be a part of The Creativity Project alongside so many wonderful photographers  whose collective works humble me. This months theme is: Faceless portraits.  I thought long and hard about what this  meant and then decided to stop thinking with my head and start shooting with my heart.

                                                                     Life isn't about
waiting for the storm to pass.
                                                                 It"s about learning to
                                                                    dance in the rain.

When you are finished here, go visit this fabulous blog to see some more faceless portraits. Please feel free to post any of your faceless portraits to our group on facebook https://www.facebook.com/thecreativityproject

                                                                       Day 13

My Texas family is right here. I have many wonderful people in my life, but today is for Rosalyn. She is like a mother to me, my walking buddy, chef extraordinaire, a home away from home grandmother to the kids, my sewing bee partner, she has a sense of humor that leaves me in tears, our doggie sitter, but more than anything she is my friend. I love her dearly and am so grateful she is in my life

                                                                           Day 12

                                                              The Chair Stands Alone
                                                                   The Wind Blows,
                                                                    The Leaves Fall,
                                                                Time Moves Forward,
                                                           Colors Change, Animals Run
                                                                  The Chair Is Still

                                                                          Day 11

                                                           "Nature" is what we see—
                                                            The Hill—the Afternoon—
                                                     Squirrel—Eclipse— the Bumble bee—
                                                             Nay—Nature is Heaven—
                                                             Nature is what we hear—
                                                             The Bobolink—the Sea—
                                                             Thunder—the Cricket—
                                                          Nay—Nature is Harmony—
                                                           Nature is what we know—
Yet have no art to say—
                                                          So impotent Our Wisdom is
                                                                To her Simplicity.

                                                               Emily Dickinson

                                                                   Day 10

One can know a man from his laugh, and if you like a man's laugh before you know anything of him, you may confidently say that he is a good man

                                                                       Day 9

                                                                    Raindrops

                                                 Raindrops are such funny things,
They haven't feet or haven't wings.
Yet they sail through the air,
                                                       With the greatest of ease,
                                                        And dance on the street,
                                                         Wherever they please.

                                                                        Day 8

"The Stars on high are shining bright, sweet dreams my darling, sleep well.. Good night". Mem Fox

                                                                              Day 7

I have decided to start my 365 project again this year. This is day seven, don't even ask me about 1-6, I have no comment. I hope to make it about my life with my hubby, six kids and even the dog. I may even include the fish, but no guarantees. He's always doing that swimming thing so I may not bother with him.
There it is, my 365 project in a nutshell.
